Ronald Kirby, 82, of Hamilton, Ill., passed away at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at his home in Hamilton. He was born on June 6, 1935, in Sonora Township, a son of Russell and Wilma Walker Kirby. Ronald married Carma Schmitt on April 19, 1958, in Hamilton. She survives in Hamilton.Survivors also include two sons, Roger (Cindy) Kirby of Hamilton and Scott (Kathy) Kirby of Hamilton; a daughter, Ruth (Bryan) Carnes of Hamilton; two brothers, Norm (Betty) Kirby of Lewisville, Texas, and Steve Kirby of Carthage, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Paul) Oliver, Miranda (Andrew Hill) Kirby, Ryan (Kim) Kirby, Tyler (Ashley) Kirby, Jessica (Joey) Croy, Bryanna (Ryan Worthington) Carnes, Matt (Brittany Cameron) Kirby and Alexis Carnes; five stepgrandchildren, including Jenna (Chad) Happs and Matt (Gayla McMillen) Spees; 10 great-grandchildren, Jack Kirby, Paxton Oliver, Hadlee Croy, Alayna Croy, Hunter Hill, Knox Hill, Hudson Carnes, Colin Kirby, Emma Kirby and Rhett Kirby; several nieces and nephews; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.Ronald attended Douglas Country School, graduated from Hamilton High School and attended Keokuk Community College. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1962. He was a member of the Golden’s Point Christian Church, Hamilton Saddle Club, Hancock County Farm Bureau and the Hamilton and Titans Sports Boosters. He was a lifelong farmer and cattle buyer in Hamilton. He enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling, cattle buying and spending time with his family and friends.Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Saturday, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home in Hamilton.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Menschel officiating.
